When testing one friends successful ground bait mix by feeding fish 3 versions of it in a stock pond at Horseshoe Lake the difference between the carp responses to his bait and my 2 new versions were staggering. In fact my friend was a bailiff and was a top rod on that lake using his own recipe of homemade spod mix. But when introduced to stock pond carp beside my versions of his own spod mix, his mix was completely ignored and was left untouched, and meanwhile carp actually head-butted the bottom in search of the other new versions, (this was even after they had all been consumed!)

This was such a revelation to all of us that witnessed this test that it took us quite a while to accept what had happened and the strength of the reaction because after all, here was a proven consistently successful spod mix failing to even get nibbled whist in the presence of 2 other identically-based baits but with added extras. Of course I was expecting a strong feeding response to the substances added to the new spod mixes, but certainly did not really expect them to result in the original being ignored as if it did not even exist. Now if you have ever fished next to someone who is catching fish and you cannot get a bite on your formerly successful bait this could well be part of the reason and perhaps we all need to seriously ask ourselves if our baits are doing or not doing various things they are supposedly designed to do!

Baits vary by huge margins when it comes to how well they perform in various situations against competing baits and ultimately the job of any bait is simply to get an anglers hook inside the mouth of a fish to hook it but this is far more complex in many more ways than this appears while also being pretty simple! The fact that the vast percentage of anglers free baits get regularly consumed with ease by carp without them ever getting hooked is also a hugely important area to investigate because this is not simply about effective rigs at all and very much about truly maximising bait performance in the first place! What Do All The Different Types Of Art Mean?

Artists technical terms can be a bit of a minefield to people starting out in art forms. This is intended as a bit of a guide to some of the terms used, plus explanations of different types of modern art. When we talk about the subject, this is the place, person, persons or object the artist is trying to portray. Form being lines, colours, textures.

Content is what the meaning of the work is and how we are actually given to understand it. This really is how we respond to the painting, the form, the medium and of course the subject.

Medium - this basically is all the methods and materials used for the artwork you see before you.

Modern art is enjoyed by most people simply because it is presented in so many different forms. Modern art, you could say, probably dates back to somewhere beyond the 1860's.

Modernism, it could be said, is very similar in style to abstractionism. However, if you stop to think about it, much of the modern art available would not be classed as abstract.

Modern artists, for instance, might just do mainly work that is figurative, but to me, many works are abstract. After all, we use all shapes, forms and colours to create our work.

What is Cubism? This is a form of art that does not always represent the way the subject actually appears, just probably the essence of the subject. Often just placing emphasis on certain areas of the subject in a different, analytical way. If you need an example of this type of work, Picasso would indeed be a fine one.

Pop Art arrived in the late 50s / 60s. Andy Warhol made an impression on this. With this came really gaudy, colorful comic strips, advertising hoarding boards and posters.

How about Op Art from the same era? Geometric shapes which seem to look as if they move, creating an illusion, yet in an abstract kind of way.

Minimalism - Very often a collection of brushstrokes which were repeated. Made from very little content really. Dates back to the 60s and 70s.

Expressionism - normally an emotional kind of work. Dating back to the 1900's. Strong, exaggerated, very colourful, brush marks which often looked distorted.

You can also have abstract impressionism which originated from New York, I think in the late 1940's. This art form being more a spontaneous expression of feeling, often depicting action paintings. A famous artist in this field, of course, being Jackson Pollock.

Futurism is of Italian origin from 1909. Really, these paintings showed actual speeds and motions.

Surrealism - the unconscious workings of the mind in automatic style drawing, often not making much sense at all and yet appearing to be very realistic. Magnificent examples of this kind, are the mind boggling works of art of Salvador Dali, many of them can be seen to this day in the city of Barcelona.

Impressionism - This was often used to paint landscapes. A series of dashes make up the painting. Painted pretty close together, they, in fact, look as if they join when viewed from a distance, making the painting complete. Claude Monet was an impressionist. - 20760

Many have been searching for the right answer without realizing it lies within the individual senses, the things that motivate the seeing, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. It all depends on the interpretation of the photographer and what techniques he'll be using to send a message to his audience that will categorize the works as the "best" subject in photography.

Ask yourself (or rather your eyes): What do you want to see? There's a saying that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" therefore you alone can determine beauty. I know ideas starts to pop into your minds right now but let me share to you some of the best and simple subjects I have experimented (with astonishing results) that you might want to tackle one of these days:

1. Countryside

The subject of being free and greenery is universal. People find them attractive because the image gives them the illusion of sitting through that moment when the picture was captured and a split-second escape of their current place. The more natural your image looks the more it is inviting to the audience. Capture that lush green grasses and trees, how fluffy the nonchalant clouds under the blue wide sky, or even the nightingale sitting atop the cow. Also, try to stray away from the generic angle or position. Why not capture the shots while youre lying in the ground to make the view out of the ordinary?

2. Food

Now this one is for the photographer who wants an automatic head turn towards his work. In order for our system to work, fuel is needed and therefore food has an automatic magnetism for the five senses. Regardless of Race, Sex, or Age the subject of food for a photograph never misses. One thing you can do to standout is to put extra emphasis on the texture, color, and how real the food could get when presented in the pictures.

3. Children

Who can resist the innocent smile of a little baby girl? And a chubby little boy in his first school uniform and hat? Some might but most people turn soft by the image of a child. Remember to capture the shots without the subjects awareness because capturing their natural smile and behavior will make your photographs a stand-out in the sea of baby pictures.

4. Waterfalls, Streams, and the Beach
